Analysis of Episodes: Part 1

A good episode to analyze the overall view of "The Fresh Prince" would be the first episode titled "The Fresh Prince Project." Will has come into the house and chaos has begun from the first minute. Will is banging on the door to whom he is greeted by the family butler Geoffry. The audience, as well as Will, is introduced to the unpredictable, fun filled family. The climax of the episode is the dinner party that will be held at the house later that night. It is Will's first formal gathering and it is exposed from the moment he walks downstairs. His wardrobe is not one of regular dress, he has customized his owned outfit out of the original tuxedo given to him earlier in the episode. His antics, attire and attitude at the gathering and the day as a whole leads uncle Phil to believe Will wants to destroy his family and his opportunity of coming to California. Will exclaims he didn't ask to be sent to Bel-Air and that people are changing him into what he doesn't want to be. The episode ends with Will playing a Beethoven piece on the piano with Uncle Phil watching over him from afar realizing the potential that Will has and that it will one day be fulfilled.
